This is good news but we need more sponsors for the Cheney bill and the reps that are working on the Bush Impeachment bill (Wexler, Kucinich and Juciary Committee) need to hear from you…So, please keep your calls coming in and ask others to call.

Call Pelosi, call your reps, call the judiciary committee:

I applaud your worthwhile efforts to impeach a lame-duck Vice President when he has just over 10 months remaining in his (pointless) office. Keep at it, I say. Perhaps next you can go the extra mile and try to get Dan Quayle impeached after the fact. This would be an even better outlet fo your energy. Fight on!

So when do you quit at stuff, S.C.? When there’s a year left? Two?

Obviously never. You never quit “at stuff”. That’s the healthy approach. That’s precisely why Quayle should be next. After that, Adlai Stevenson.

But seriously, at the very least I’d think a rational person would find it worth factoring in the length of time any plausible impeachment/removal scenario would be likely to take. Is it even possible to bring an impeachment/removal campaign to successful fruition before January 2008 and he’s gone anyway? If not then what’s the point? Catharsis?

But I was also trying to point out the relative unimportance of the office whose current resident y’all apparently find it so important to replace. “Vice President” doesn’t actually have a lot of constitutional powers when you get right down to it; he breaks ties in the Senate and, um, cuts ribbons? True, Clinton and W. have expanded the role a bit, given their VPs their spheres expanded powers but even these come at the discretion of the President. So it’s not just that it’s ‘time to quit’, it’s that I don’t understand what impeaching a VP would accomplish. Unless it’s part of a Prez-VP impeachment twosome, in which case… good luck with that. 🙂
