“When the Democrats held Nixon to account, they won big. When they let Reagan off easy, they lost big. When the Republicans went after Truman they won. When they went after Clinton, despite public opposition, they still held onto power and began to expand it. There is no case in which a party bringing impeachment has suffered for it. The historical record is unequivocal. The American public does not vote for the failure to uphold our constitution. And if the Democrats do not act, the voters will see the Iraq war as their war, and Bush as their President long before November 2008, and voters will stay home.”
