During the July 4th parade in Takoma Park, Representative Chris Van Hollen told constituents that the Libby commutation was making him consider impeachment. That’s good, but going ahead and deciding to support impeachment proceedings — such as those proposed by Rep. Dennis Kucinich for Vice President Cheney — would be better.
Van Hollen may simply be waiting to hear from us before he takes the step. So…
- Call Chris Van Hollen at 202-225-5341 and let him know you’d like him to co-sponsor Kucinich’s Cheney impeachment bill, H.Res 333. (Please be polite to whoever takes the call.).
- Then let everybody know how the call went and what you learned; just return to this page and leave a comment.
Thanks!

Send this (calln_van_hollen.pdf) to your local copy shop and print them 4up on 8.5×11. We like the yellow eye-catching card stock.
Did you know that Maryland CD 4 Representative Albert Wynn is already a co-sponsor of Cheney impeachment bill H.Res 333? You can thank him here.
If you live outside of Maryland you can find out who your Representative is and contact him or her here http://www.house.gov or you can call the Capitol Hill Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

Left a message with a staff person. I started out by saying that I live in Takoma Park, and he said “Okay,” and then I just expressed that I would like Van Hollen to co-sponsor the Cheny impeachment bill House Resolution 333. He said he would let him know, but didn’t ask my name/other info. Very cordial, though. I’m going to do a letter now, cc’ing Mikulski, Cardin and the local reps.
I just called Van Hollen’s office about the Kucinich resolution and got a cordial reception from a young woman; I was asked my name and hometown (Takoma Park) and told that my message would be passed on to the congressman.
I just called Van Hollen’s office; same result as Cricket’s (except that I live in Silver Spring, just south of the core downtown area).
(You mean “Email” not “Mail” on this form, right?)
I called his office on July 24. As usual, they took my name and “registered” my request.
[To Paul: yes, that should read "E-mail (will not be published) etc.."]
Spoke with an aide just now, who was nice. Urged Van Hollen to co-sponsor H.Res.333 — and maybe sponsor an impeachment resolution of his own. The aide said Van Hollen was considering it; also that he knew about the Takoma Park impeachment vote. The aide couldn’t tell me what his reaction to the vote was. Told him it was important to stand up for the Constitution — might help the Democrats, too.
Did you mention Valerie Ervin introducing a Montgomery County resolution?
When I called, a staffer answered; I identified myself as a constituent who lived in Takoma Park, and asked that Van Hollen support H. Res.333. There was no recognition of that res on the staffer’s part, so I clarified what it was. She took the spelling of my name and said she’d register my call.
